From Our Founder… 10/15/19

Many in the United States celebrated Columbus Day on Monday. And while the story of Christopher Columbus is quite amazing, the deeper lessons regarding Christopher Columbus are many and vital for Americans to receive. Today, the mythologies and the revisionist narratives surrounding Columbus do not do the Italian explorer genuine justice. Such a shining historical example offers valuable lessons, but they have been obscured by a current crop of Progressive -revisionist historians who have spun a narrative about Columbus much like mainstream media smears the character of current celebrities and famous people — some contemporary political figures may spring to mind. The current “Impeachment Corps” comes to mind.

I do not offer a current article this week, but if readers are interested in reading about Columbus from a different narrative, and in order to understand some reasons why the Founders despised tyranny so much, our recommended reading section features a few links to articles I have written on Columbus Days in the past. Along those lines, we have a contribution from Hal Shurtleff of Camp Constitution regarding a Presidential Proclamation regarding Columbus Day from the more distant past.

Additionally this week, Dr. Richard Moss, a former political candidate for office in Indiana tackles a very relevant issue in the present: “What is the Purpose of the GOP?” He reveals his own failed campaigns, but makes the point that “conservatives must continue to uphold our priorities that the nation may return to its foundational principles and beliefs. We must reassert the religious and cultural underpinnings of the country, the central role of the two-parent family, faith and the Judeo-Christian tradition.” The article was first printed in the American Thinker.

The rest of the lineup of commentaries of our writers deal with a number of equally challenging topics. Karen Cacy provides a recommendation for readers for Sidney Powell’s 2014 book, Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice. Karen makes the case that the five year old book lays out the beginnings of the Obama Justice Department corruption of the federal prosecutors in that day. We also feature a video of a Mark Levin interview with Sydney Powell from earlier this year. Check the Video Views section.

Bonnie Parsley also uses a book as a springboard into her insightful article this week. She refers to Eric Metaxas’ book titled, “If You Can Keep It.” She makes the case for”Saving the Republic.” And, in another plea for American values, Michael Lewinski writes about “Protecting Religious Liberty.” In his article Lewinski acknowledges Progressive-Socialist, Beto O’Rourke’s pledge to revoke the tax-exempt status of churches, schools, hospitals and other institutions for rejecting same-sex marriage. We also feature videos from the recent Values Voters Summit.

One of the contributions from DefCon News takes on young O’Rourke and his recent campaign rhetoric. But he asks a relevant question: “Are there any Constitutional Amendments this guy actually likes?” The second contribution from DefCon News deals with Jake Clapper admitting on CNN that “Obama Ordered Intelligence Community to Spy on Trump.”

Our Video Views feature videos that focus upon revelations – both spiritual and substantial:

As the founder of the Citizen Sentinels Network, I hope that the articles we provide, without ads, without subscription fees, and other obnoxious distractions, could be a source of sanity in such times that try good people’s souls. In human history, the way of tyranny in many a time frame included the simple strategy of “divide and conquer.” United “We the People” Stand! Honoring Christopher Columbus and Countering the Cultural Marxists

The first part of Camp Constitution’s motto is :  “Honoring the Past…”   Keeping true to our motto, we have the proclamation of President Benjamin Harrison honoring Christopher Columbus:

Whereas by a joint resolution approved June 29, 1892, it was resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled—

That the President of the United States be authorized and directed to issue a proclamation recommending to the people the observance in all their localities of the four hundredth anniversary of the discovery of America, on the 21st of October, 1892, by public demonstrations and by suitable exercises in their schools and other places of assembly.

Now, therefore, I, Benjamin Harrison, President of the United States of America…

What is the Purpose of the GOP?

By Dr. Richard Moss  10/9/19, (Published in the American Thinker.)

A year ago, I was locked in a political race for the Republican nomination for Congress from Indiana’s 8th district. I was running against then four-term incumbent, Larry Bucshon. I had also run in the prior election cycle in 2016.  And I had run in 2014 against Mike Braun (now U.S. Senator for Indiana) for state representative (HR 63).

Among issues popular among conservatives, I also had what I thought was a compelling platform regarding the incumbent: Bucshon and his family had moved to Washington. D.C.  I had hoped that this factor combined with his generally weak voting record could propel me to an upset victory, which is never easy against an incumbent. I started early and ran hard. I had raised money and traveled extensively throughout the 18 counties of Indiana’s 8th district, meeting and interacting with voters.

Despite a vigorous, hard-hitting campaign, we came up short – actually worse than the prior election. I had dropped from 35% to 26%. I also observed that many in the 8th district county-level GOP establishment were upset over my criticism of Bucshon for moving to D.C. I contended, however, that a representative and his family must live, work and attend schools in the area he represents. In this era of an increasingly centralized federal government, far removed from its constituents, Bucshon’s decision to move to Washington exemplified a D.C.-centric mentality that defined perfectly what was wrong with our political system — and why I had run.

Having lost in three political campaigns, I can report that it is wonderful not to run for office. The reasons for running in three separate campaigns, however, have not disappeared….

Licensed to Lie: 2014 book exposes start of Deep State DOJ corruption

COLORADO SPRINGS: Sidney Powell’s book, “Licensed to Lie: Exposing Corruption in the Department of Justice,” may provide some unsavory insights into the Deep States DOJ corruption behind the Russia Hoax. Despite the book being published back in the halcyon days of 2014.

Powell relies on the processes from three of her past cases, Enron, Arthur Anderson and the Senator Stevens trials dealing with federal prosecutors to tell the true story of the “strong-arm, illegal, and unethical tactics used by headline-grabbing federal prosecutors in their narcissistic pursuit of power.”

Powell identifies a pattern of abuse repeated in other cases brought by the DOJ task force. A pattern of abuse in the justice system that continues until today, five years post publishing of this book.

Department of Justice Malfeaesence past

Powell, who worked in the Department of Justice for ten years in Texas and Virginia, reveals how prosecutors of the accounting firm Arthur Andersen pieced together parts of different statutes to concoct a crime and eliminate criminal intent from the jury instructions. The Supreme Court eventually reverses the Andersen conviction 9-0 but not before the company was forcibly closed with the loss of 85,000 jobs.

In the corruption trial of former Alaska Sen. Ted Stevens, a key witness was intimidated into presenting false testimony. As in the Merrill Lynch case, the prosecutors concealed exculpatory evidence from the defense, a violation of due process under the Supreme court’s  Brady v. Maryland 373 U.S. 83 (1963) decision.

In Senator Stevens’ conviction, which led to a narrow loss in his 2008 re-election campaign and impacted the majority makeup of the Senate, the presiding judge appointed a special prosecutor to investigate abuses. Confronted with the need to clean house as he came into office, writes Powell,  Attorney General Eric Holder failed to take action.

Powell’s book provides an expose of federal prosecutorial misconduct and introduces us to some of the worst federal prosecutors who still reside at the top levels of our government.

Saving the Republic

By Bonnie M. Parsley 10/14/19

Eric Metaxas has written a wonderful little book titled, If You Can Keep It. The title comes from a statement made by Ben Franklin as he left the Constitutional Convention. A woman asked, “Well, Doctor, what have you given us, a republic or a monarchy?” He shot back, “A republic, madame, if you can keep it.” With this statement, Ben Franklin was charging all of us to keep the republic that had been established by the written Constitution.

We must ask ourselves: How we are doing? Actually, I’ve never been so worried about the future of our republic than I am now. We are seeing a move away from the three pillars that Metaxas said supported our democratic republic. He calls these supports virtue, faith and freedom. Americans at the beginning of the nation and for 185 years were believers in God and the biblical rules that governed human behavior. This belief led to a virtuous people who would maintain the republic. I might add another pillar that is essential to save our republic. That is education. Education in the truth of our founding and the great idea of liberty and self-government that they prescribed must be instilled in every generation.

Then sometime during the ‘60s, we began moving away from the ideals that preserved the vision of a free nation under God. The idea of secularism became popular. They distorted the idea of freedom that gave them license to do whatever felt good at the time. They no longer felt the need to live by the rules. They rebelled and our culture mutated to one our founders would not recognize. Now, we are in an ideological battle that will decide the future of the country. Will we again value our Constitutional Republic and the rule of law, or will we succumb to the lies and manipulations of the Democrats?

Protecting Religious Liberty

By Michael J. Lewinski 10/13/19

President Trump just cannot catch a break. The deep state tried to impeach him with the Russian hoax. Now they are trying to impeach him with the Ukraine hoax. The progressive Democrats, never-Trump RINOs, the bureaucrats in the deep state, and their allies in the mainstream media will not stop trying to impeach him until November 2024.

It is not this witch hunt I want to focus on today. It is instead the threat to our religious liberty which has been threatened by progressive Democrats. Beto O’Rourke has pledged to revoke the tax-exempt status of churches, schools, hospitals and other institutions for rejecting same-sex marriage. Many in the Democratic Party are hostile to God.

In an article, “Religious Liberty is Critical for Believers and Non-Believers Alike,” Kay Coles James, leader of the Heritage Foundation, commented on President Trump’s having called a conference on Religious Liberty at the UN.

Citing many studies, Ms. James identifies “how important religious liberty is to the peace, prosperity, and freedom of the religious and non-religious alike.” Conversely, how much damage a lack of respect and toleration can have on peace and prosperity.

She shows societies with large religious populations experience less crime and violence. Non-believers benefit from “churches and religious organizations… building schools, hospitals, research centers, homeless shelters, and food kitchens for the benefit of everyone….”

Beto O’Rourke Threatens to Strip Churches of Tax-Exempt Status for Not Embracing LGBT Culture

We know Beto O’Rourke hates gun ownership rights and due process, but he also doesn’t think highly of the freedom of religion. The Democratic presidential candidate says if he is elected he would strip the tax-exempt status of any church that refuses to embrace the gay culture and lifestyle. Are there any Constitutional Amendments this guy actually likes?

CNN’s recent cringe-worthy LGBT forum gave many Democratic party lowlights, like Joe Biden pretending to be gay, but it was Beto O’Rourke who sunk the lowest with his threat to wipe out religious freedom.

Beto O’Rourke on religious institutions losing tax-exempt status for opposing same-sex marriage: “There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone … that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one of us” #EqualityTownHall

“Do you think religious institutions like colleges churches, charities, should they lose their tax-exempt status if they oppose same-sex marriage?” Lemon Squeezy asked.

Yes,” replied O’Rourke.

And he had more:

“There can be no reward, no benefit, no tax break for anyone or any institution or any organization in America that denies the full human rights and the full civil rights of every single one us. So, as president, we’re going to make that a priority and we’re going to stop those who are infringing upon the human rights of our fellow Americans,” O’Rourke declared.

James Clapper Admits Obama Ordered Intelligence Community to Spy on Trump

Courtesy of Def-Con News

During the 2016 election, Democrats and Hillary Clinton used a foreign government to compile a bogus dossier on Donald Trump. This misinformation was then used by the FBI and the intelligence community to spy on Trump and all of this was the basis for the “Russian collusion” witch-hunt. Until now Obama has claimed innocence, but his former Director of National Intelligence just admitted the former president ordered the intelligence community to spy on Trump and attempt to delegitimize his presidency.

James Clapper was Obama’s DNI from 2010-2017. His previous biggest claim to fame was spying on the American people and lying to Congress about it, but now he is famous for outing Obama’s treachery.

During an interview on CNN, Clapper was asked if he is worried about Attorney General William Barr’s investigation into the origins of the fake Trump/Russia collusion narrative.

“Are you concerned that Barr’s…investigation will find wrongdoing and seek to punish former intelligence officials?” asked the host.

“Well. I don’t know. I don’t think there was any wrongdoing,” replied Clapper.

That’s not exactly a confident answer, but it would get much worse:

“The then Commander-In-Chief, President Obama, told us [what] to do, which was assemble all the reporting that we could, that we had available to us, and put it in one report we could pass on to Congress,” said Clapper. “And that’s what we did.”

And what they did was spy on Trump’s campaign and fabricate evidence that he colluded with the Russians to influence the 2016 election. This is not something Clapper should be proud of because it is illegal, and they botched it so badly.
