From Our Founder… 3/24/2020 –
Prolonged or strong doses of negativity or “hate narratives” are hazardous to anyone’s intellectual appraisals of reality. Akin to “brainwashing” of prisoners in prolonged captivity, the effects of some lengthy exposure to such toxic messaging is intentional. Much of the messaging is like attorneys’ efforts to persuade jury members in criminal trials. Such messaging can be very subtle, and some can be over the top brutal, but if it is repeated and people receive it often enough, it wears upon one’s perceptions and viewpoints of what is true and what is false. Lies can begin to appear as truth, and at the very least, people become confused ith the difference between what is the truth and what is the narrative conveying falsehood or bearing false witness. Such a “hobby” should be replaced with positive oriented perspectives, even faith-based perspectives that are more likely to be rooted in truth, or fundamental values.
This is why our Founders focused upon the higher truths and were willing to die for self-evident truths penned in the Declaration of Independence. This is what the Citizen Sentinels Network writers are also attracted to and believe in, and will continue to write about. We hope that with the influx of misinformation and outright disinformation across America in this time, you will continue to consider the Citizen Sentinels Network newsletter as a source of positive oriented perspectives in our articles and commentaries. We hope to help people keep their heads on straight!
Last week, the CSN newsletter focused on the COVID -19 reality; but, this week, we have some articles on the “scourge,” but we are not going to keep focusing an entire edition on it. However, most of the articles touch on the coronavirus in one way or another.
The first article from Don Rosenberg, who wrote about the virus and the 2020 elections. This week he follows up with an overview of what we have learned thus far with respect to this disease raising all kinds of havoc across the world.
A couple of other articles touching on the implications of how COVID-19 is affecting America are presented. One is from James Harrison, the founder and leader of the Natural Family Foundation. http://www.
This week, we also welcome a new writer to CSN, but a published author, Kevin McCarthy. He tackles the related issue of fear and the “D” word that is at the heart of a fear of a deadly disease. We also feature an article from Michael Lewinsky who puts out a plea that Americans could all get along with one another. But, he also brings up the sobering reality that not all are on board with such a “controversial proposal.”
Finally, and last but not least, Dr. Robert Owens offers a very clear perspective on the reality of the veterans’ benefits under the VA. The article is a good analysis of why such benefits are truly “payments for services rendered, and the least a grateful nation can give to the faithful few who answered the call.”
Turning the Corner on Coronavirus
By Don Rosenberg 3/24/2020
I have been carefully monitoring the progress of the coronavirus, carefully trying to sort out the panic from the truth. In an article last week I explained the reasons why different groups, the Democrats, the news media and others, are hyping this disease. The Democrats know the only way they can defeat Trump (or at least gain the Senate or hold the House in 2020) is to make him look ineffective. The news media hate Trump and want him defeated, but they also love the idea of having millions of Americans stuck at home watching their news channels 24/7.
This chart shows deaths per season for the flu over the last eight years. They range from 12,000 in the 2011-12 season to 61,000 in the 2017-18 season. Many have been wondering, “Why all the panic?” In my opinion, digging for the good news hidden among the disaster drama, and checking the facts from neutral sources, in three months we will be wondering what all the fuss was about. There are several basic reasons…
Looking for the Corona Canary
By James Harrison 3/22/2020
The year was 1999 and we were most certainly looking at the end of America as we knew it. At least that was the fear. The clocks would fail to turn over to the year 2000 and planes would suddenly drop out of the sky, cars and appliances would stop working and the economy would tank.
During this time period I was working closely with computer professionals and noticed a curious anomaly. Not one programmer or analyst was the least bit worried about the dire predictions of doom and gloom. How could they not know? Not one of them was stocking up on supplies!
But they did know. What they were stocking up on was overtime and incredible job offers, many of them doubling their salaries due to the fear of what might happen. Fear always has winners and losers – amen?
And as we all know America survived what was a certain turn of the century holocaust. Jets did not fall out of the sky, our cars and lives traveled along as if nothing happened. Well actually, nothing did happen with the only damage having been caused by worry and fears and not computer digits.
Socialism Through the Back Door
By Judith H. Rose 3/20/2020
The coronavirus has done what decades of Democratic efforts have attempted and failed to do, and the Socialists didn’t even have to win an election to do it. We are fast becoming a socialist nation because of a tiny virus unseen by the naked eye. News coverage for this current epidemic has been equal to or more than that of a world war. There has been no political takeover or meteor crashing into the earth to cause the current financial meltdown. Most people think that a minuscule virus, impossible to see, has caused this current emergency. But if even half of our American citizens had used our phenomenal former economy to prepare themselves for an emergency, we would not be in our current situation.
The real problem, as I see it, is that Americans have come to look to the government to solve all our problems when it should be up to each citizen and corporation to plan for setbacks and disasters that will eventually come, whether they be from earthquakes, hurricanes or warfare. The world will always present us with challenges. The only question is – when.
COVID-19 and the Inordinate Fear of Death
By Kevin McCarthy 3/23/2020
I’ve got toilet paper and hand wipes. I got my Lysol spray and I’m washing my hands constantly. I’m not shaking hands or touching my face. Why does it seem so many are feeling this ceaseless dread, a dread that keeps building and building? A dread that compels us to another run to the local grocer and join the frantic hordes hoarding more toilet paper, more Lysol, more hand wipes. Have we gone mad? Well, yes, we have, and it would behoove us to step back and analyze the genetic code of our out-of-control dread as much as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is presently seeking to understand the fundamentals of the COVID-19 virus.
Whereas the coronavirus is manifesting a huge burden upon physical health, another disease known as fear is presently manifesting an equally heavy burden upon our soul.
Fortunately, for the latter, a vaccine is readily available and easily distributed. More on that later, because before we can know the cure, we must have a clear discovery of the elements of the disease. The first and most obvious element of the dread that presently permeates society is caused by the fear of death.
By Michael J. Lewinski 03/18/2020
Tacitus, (born ad 56—died c. 120), was a Roman orator and public official, probably the greatest historian and one of the greatest prose stylists who wrote in the Latin language. He observed, “when men are full of envy, they disparage everything, whether it be good or bad.” This, I believe, explains why Trump derangement syndrome has exploded across the county since he was elected.
With what we are going through in our medical emergency, I have begun to observe a change in the tone and character of the political relations within the country. We are becoming nicer; cooperating more with the each other. Democrats and Republicans are getting along better. This is one of the benefits for this health crisis.
It is as if the peace of Jesus has begun to settle over the country. In the hinterland, neighbors are looking out for neighbors. Chick-fil-A is bringing sandwiches to healthcare workers and pizza shops are delivering free pies. Fast food restaurants provide free lunches for school children.
Veteran’s Benefits Aren’t Entitlements
By Dr. Robert Owens 3/15/2020
Federal law requires everyone who enlists in the Armed Forces of the United States to take the enlistment oath. The oath is traditionally performed in front of the United States Flag. Everyone who has ever worn the uniform has said:
“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
When every veteran took this oath to defend our country, our Constitution, and our way of life they presented the nation with a blank check to serve and protect We the People. That check was written with their lives, their bodies, and their sacred honor. They pledged to give their all. And as the saying goes, “All gave some. Some gave all.”

The Citizen Sentinels Network provides this newsletter for those who are able to consume and digest the truth and honest commentaries from our citizen-journalists. We hope that our writer’s articles we provide (without ads, without subscription fees, without “strings” attached, or any other obnoxious distractions) could be a source of sanity in such times that try good people’s souls. In human history, the pathway of tyranny in many time periods utilized ignorance and fear with the basic strategy of “divide and conquer.” United “We the People” Stand!
