CSN Sunday – Messages of Light  – 3/14/2021

Dear CSN newsletter readers,

The Citizen Sentinels Network has maintained a project, originally deemed the David Project, since 2018. For those readers of faith, the Messages of Light originated as a genuine inspiration from our Heavenly Father. It was initiated to bring Light into the dark in this time. And especially at such a time as this in our nation and in the world, there is clear and present danger requiring the faithful to hold boldly and securely onto the foundations that are rooted in faith.

If you consider the messages in our Sunday edition relevant or meaningful and know others who might value them as well, consider yourself a Light mail messenger, and please pass this newsletter on to those whom you feel could welcome it. Or simply, please receive it yourselves.

Why Did Jesus Deliver a Version of the Sermon on the Mount at the Temple in Bountiful? | Book of ...

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet

“It was now just before the Passover Feast, and Jesus knew that His hour had come to leave this world and return to the Father. Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the very end. The evening meal was underway, and the devil had already put into the heart of Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.

Jesus knew that the Father had delivered all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was returning to God. So He got up from the supper, laid aside His outer garments, and wrapped a towel around His waist. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and dry them with the towel that was around Him.

He came to Simon Peter, who asked Him, “Lord, are You going to wash my feet?”

Jesus replied, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

“Never shall You wash my feet!” Peter told Him.

Jesus answered, “Unless I wash you, you have no part with Me.”

“Then, Lord,” Simon Peter replied, “not only my feet, but my hands and my head as well!”

Jesus told him, “Whoever has already bathed needs only to wash his feet, and he will be completely clean. And you are clean, though not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him. That is why He said, “Not all of you are clean.”

When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His outer garments, He reclined with them again and asked, “Do you know what I have done for you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, because I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example so that you should do as I have done for you. Truly, truly, I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”  John 13:1-17 (BSB)

Love One Another

“When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, ‘Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in Him. If God is glorified in Him, God will also glorify the Son in Himself—and will glorify Him at once.

Little children, I am with you only a little while longer. You will look for Me, and as I said to the Jews, so now I say to you: ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’

A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”  John 13:31-35 (BSB)

When I was growing up, my parents had a framed copy of DaVinci’s “The Last Supper” in our living room. When I would look at the painting, I would have different impressions at different ages. When I was very young, I certainly did not grasp what it meant, and my parents did not tell me. It is because they may not have grasped the full depth of the meaning of that moment. Only later, when I found out what happened at the Last Supper, and then what happened after that, and ultimately what happened on the cross, did I fully understand (or thought I did). When I had grown into a teenager, I was totally baffled by Jesus forgiving those who were killing him on the cross. It haunted me for several years, even past my Marxist quest in college when I thought I had everything figured out.

But, I never asked Heavenly Father about this incredible act of love, beyond the physical reality of what was taking place on the cross. It bothered me, but I was only thinking about it from my own limited perspective. Even in churches, I could not clearly receive satisfaction in the words of explanation of why God’s son would wash his disciples’ feet, or why he had to suffer so much, to even die for God’s Kingdom, and to still ask forgiveness for those who had persecuted him and those who were killing him.

Now, as an old man, I understand so much more, and the pieces of the puzzle have revealed a much more complete image than I could have envisioned with my own thinking. I finally grew up enough in my spirit to ask Heavenly Father what it meant. Part of the answer is certainly in the Holy Bible. That is what we all can read and pray over. However, it wasn’t until my wife passed away that I could more deeply grasp the pain of Heavenly Father in seeing His son die such a painful death.

And, for those who would say to themselves: “Ah, he’s still grieving over his wife and is still in grieving, rationalizing, and equating what happened on the cross with the pain he experienced as his wife died,” I would say, you may be the ones who are rationalizing. I am the only one on earth who may know how my Heavenly Father, or the Holy Spirit, came and shared my pain, by sharing their own pain – not just in the death of Jesus, but with all the prophets and saints who were stoned or killed for their faith. I do know others who have had similar experiences of God’s empathy when they allowed Him to come into their hearts in such times of severe trial.

I was shown how our Heavenly Father has felt such incredible pain throughout human history, all the way back to the loss of His children in the Garden of Eden. What parent of conscience today does not feel incredibly overwhelmed by pain with the loss of even one of their children? That is because we were all created in the image of God. We all have hearts that link back to Him. And, this is what Jesus felt as he saw the miserable situation in his country as it was under dominion from the Roman Empire, and not under God’s dominion. And, it is why he wept over the people. He was one with His Father in heart, and one with Him in following His Will.

Today, our message of light is from a new writer to our Messages of Light, but she is an “old soul,” and Mary Matsushita also understands much of God’s love. The article she has written is much longer, as she has much to express on such a deep topic. We have broken the original article into parts; so today, we will offer Part I on “Why Character Education.” She envisions the education to be for younger teenagers, but for those who have never had such education, it is true that one is never too old to learn. Nevertheless, young people of this age are changing and are vulnerable to so very much in such a toxic environment. Especially in those states in which indoctrination is being “rammed” down the throats of children, her message is extremely timely.

In addition to this message, we have eight videos today. One of the videos is one of Dennis Prager’s recent fireside chats about how God commands the least interest and is the most mocked among the people in this nation. We also feature a segment from Dutch Sheets that explains many different efforts in various states regarding the overall fight for freedom. There is also a video from Dr. Ben Carson regarding current events. The other videos are music videos that touch in one way or another on the message for today, or the messages in the videos.

Today we also have five articles in our “Recommended Reading” and our “Around the Republic sections. We provide a number of articles related to the events that are happening rapidly within our nation as the United States is in a lurch from one political administration to another. There is also an article about an object that has been observed emerging from a Black Hole.

These words and images are being freely offered and are being sent to you as part of the David Project’s “Messages of Light.” Please receive today’s messages as a gift from those who care. They are only words that are being offered, freely, but some contain a deep message of faith, or a deeper expression of heart that readers can hopefully receive into their lives. As it was written: “Where there is no vision,  the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.”    Proverbs 29:18 – KJV

May we humble ourselves, seek His face, repent, and turn from wickedness – even if that may mean to truly love one another as brothers and sisters, as we are all children of our Heavenly Father, and to teach our children the depths of that love. And, especially to be able to express our gratitude for His love by returning our love to our Father in Heaven.”

Why Character Education? (part I)

(A course to teach 13-14-year-old children.)

By Mary Matsushita

The following is the first part of a three part article with the same title. Parts II and III  will follow in subsequent editions of the Messages of Light in our Sunday’s edition

When you are younger and told to have “good character” and told what to do to practice good  character it “feels right.” So, when young, you don’t really question it.

But now that you are getting older this is the time of life when you start questioning everything. Asking why things are the way they are. Why is “good character” good? Why does it matter if someone has good character or bad character? Who or what determines what is  considered “good” and what is considered “bad?”

These are really clear questions, but in our current society if you ask your parents or other grownups these questions do you get really clear answers?

Generally, the answers given are that you will be happier if you are good. Other people will like you better. You do not end up in jail. — And, variations on those ideas.

But what if the real answer is much more concrete?

Why do you not walk off the edges of high places? Do we have any laws saying that you are not allowed to walk off a cliff? Such a law is not really necessary because each of us individually and voluntarily have decided that walking off a cliff is not in our best interest. When did we decide this? Most probably about the time we learned to walk, which is so early in our life we don’t remember making that decision.

For their first year of life, from birth to walking, babies experiment with gravity. Watch them sometimes. They drop a pea from the high chair and watch it go down. Their mother says,  “Don’t do that!” as she picks up the pea. But the child drops another pea, and another. What are they doing? They are experimenting! Is the pea going to go down this time, or maybe it will go sideways or up? They learn – it always goes down, every single time, consistently, reliably,  always the same result.

The baby learns to sit up, crawl, and eventually walk. At each stage, the child has to learn how to cope with gravity. It affects us every second of every minute of every hour of every day of our lives. That’s why we learn so young. And the law of gravity is such that we pretty much figure it out on our own. Then we abide by it every day of our lives. It is normal and comfortable and we voluntarily follow its rules.

A person would be considered pretty stupid to blithely walk off a cliff.

Back to “good” and “bad.” Just like gravity, there is a natural law in the universe that governs  what we call “love.” We’re taught that love is just an emotion we sometimes feel, but that teaching is incorrect. What we experience as an emotion is actually a natural force working on us just like gravity. This force keeps the internal world in order the same way that gravity keeps the external, physical world in order. Working in harmony with this force is the ultimate “good” and working against this force is the ultimate “bad.” The force of love works the same way all the time, just like gravity.

It has three basic rules. Learning and following the three laws of Love is where our responsibility as children of God is to be developed. As children of God, we inherit all His awesome power of creativity and change and also the power to master the force of Love. We have the ability to change the world around us, far more than any other species, as this planet shows.

The first rule of the force of love is don’t hurt someone else’s heart intentionally. This one we understand instinctively. We experiment when really young and figure this out on our own. If  you study really small children they are never mean to someone else, not intentionally.

But then something happens, by about age six or seven, some children start being mean to others. Why? Because the adults in their life have demonstrated that when the adult gets hurt in their heart the way to handle that is to hurt back the heart of the person that hurt them or to hurt someone else. And at some point, the adults will demonstrate that by hurting the child’s heart.

Because adults are the standard that children learn from on how to handle things and now their hearts are hurting, they think that hurting other people’s hearts is the correct way to handle the hurt in their own heart. After all, that’s what their own mom and/or dad or some other adult showed to them. It becomes normal to live in a world where people hurt each other’s hearts all the time. And it is massively destructive, sort of akin to people walking off cliffs thinking that will make them feel better.

Would you agree that a world where people hurting other people in the heart on a regular basis is not really a very nice place to live? What would society be like if just this one rule was followed by everyone?

Why is this a rule of the force of love? Because of the force of love, everything in the universe is interconnected. You are connected to everything else. We are all interconnected on an internal level. This means that what you think and feel towards others automatically bounces back onto your heart. If your thoughts and feelings are kind towards someone else, they create a nice warm feeling in your heart. If they are unkind to someone else it creates pain in your heart. It is not occasionally, or sometimes, or maybe. It is every time, all the time, always the same, just like gravity.

When we are very young we feel this in our heart and know it instinctively, but then “unlearn”  it, as mentioned before, from the adults around us. We get confused and no longer recognize what is going on with ourselves when we hurt others. But when you study this rule, when you watch what you do to others and how it affects you, when you experiment and practice, then you can re-learn what you knew before and find that it is very true.

Now when I hurt someone else’s heart, I feel the pain in my own. So, I work on getting better with this rule. I, being much older, have a lifetime of habits to change and it’s not easy, but I would be pretty stupid to go around hurting other people now that I know how much it is actually hurting me. Others, being younger, can learn and apply this rule much easier and faster,  making your life much better.

Does this mean that you are selfish for treating other people well so that you will be okay? Are you selfish for not walking off a cliff? No, it is normal to take care of yourself. This is not selfishness. Selfishness is when you sacrifice other people to attempt to make yourself better off. There is no harm to other people in being kind to them. It improves their lives at the same time that it improves your own.

As you practice and discipline your thoughts and feelings towards others, what happens is that it becomes a normal, comfortable way of life to treat other people well, to take care of others’ hearts as if they were your own heart. Each person would individually and voluntarily abide by this rule, just like gravity.
