CSN Sunday – Messages of Light – 3/21/2021
Dear CSN newsletter readers,
The Citizen Sentinels Network has maintained a project, originally deemed the David Project, since 2018. We are in our second year of existence in a hostile political environment! For those readers of faith, the Messages of Light originated as a genuine inspiration from our Heavenly Father. It was initiated to bring Light into the dark in this time. And especially at this time in our nation and in the world, there is clear and present danger that requires the faithful to hold boldly and securely onto the foundations that are rooted in faith.
If you consider the messages in our Sunday edition relevant or meaningful and know others who might value them as well, consider yourself a Light mail messenger and please pass this newsletter on to those whom you feel could welcome it. Or simply, please receive it yourselves.
“Let not your heart be troubled. You are trusting God, now trust in me. There are many homes up there where my Father lives, and I am going to prepare them for your coming. When everything is ready, then I will come and get you, so that you can always be with me where I am. If this weren’t so, I would tell you plainly. And you know where I am going and how to get there.”
“No, we don’t,” Thomas said. “We haven’t any idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus told him, “I am the Way—yes, and the Truth and the Life. No one can get to the Father except by means of me. If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my Father is. From now on you know Him—and have seen Him!”
Philip said, “Sir, show us the Father and we will be satisfied.”
Jesus replied, “Don’t you even yet know who I am, Philip, even after all this time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see Him? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own but are from my Father who lives in me. And He does His work through me. Just believe it—that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or else believe it because of the mighty miracles you have seen me do.
“In solemn truth I tell you, anyone believing in me shall do the same miracles I have done, and even greater ones, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask Him for anything, using my name, and I will do it, for this will bring praise to the Father because of what I, the Son, will do for you. Yes, ask anything, using my name, and I will do it!
“If you love me, obey me; and I will ask the Father and He will give you another Comforter, and He will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, the Spirit who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive Him, for it isn’t looking for Him and doesn’t recognize Him. But you do, for He lives with you now and some day shall be in you. No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm—I will come to you. In just a little while I will be gone from the world, but I will still be present with you. For I will live again—and you will too. When I come back to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. The one who obeys me is the one who loves me; and because he loves me, my Father will love him; and I will too, and I will reveal myself to him.” John 14:1-21 (TLB)
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.…” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV)
While we have great respect and admiration of the Apostles, there are moments in some of the testimonies of events in the New Testament that reveal their ignorance of what Jesus was trying to convey to each of them. In this section from the Book of John, Judas had already went away from the Upper Room, and Jesus began explaining some serious revelations to them.
Specifically, Jesus had just explained that he would be betrayed, and he was going away to a place they could not go, but that they would know the way to get there. Just these few moments at the time of the Last Supper are quite deeply revealing about the relationship Jesus had with a number of his key disciples. He had just rebuked Peter for his initial objection to his feet being washed by the Master. He had also just told Peter he would deny the Master three times. And after Judas leaves, Thomas admits he doesn’t know what Jesus is talking about. Philip wants to see God. It must have been an intense time in the relations with the twelve at that point in time.
Leonardo DaVinci, in his painting, “The Last Supper,” may have tried to capture this spirit at that moment in the Upper Room. As I mentioned last week, as a young boy, when I would look at the painting, I could not fully grasp what it meant, and my parents did not tell me because they may not have grasped the full depth of the meaning of those intense moments with Jesus. However, how many Christians fully grasp the deeper significance of what Jesus was teaching to those who were his most trusted disciples in these last moments with them? In the Message of Light today, I offer a message that delves into what he was teaching. And I am aware that many have given their sermons and words of wisdom on this, but permit me to offer my humble perceptions upon this incredibly concentrated and intimate teaching moment from Jesus to his disciples. My message is long, and I have broken my own rules for word count, but please have patience with me, and read what may be possible for you to easily digest.
In addition to my message today, we have nine videos. We have two from Sean Feucht who continues his “Let Us Worship” Crusade, and both are from California. One of them is his Los Angeles event at New Year’s. The more substantive video is one from the Victory Channel on St.Patrick’s Day that presents a series of important news reports. We also feature another one of Dutch Sheets’ videos that correlates to the Victory Channel “theme.” And again, we offer a video from Dr. Ben Carson, as well as Jack Hibbs interviewing Tony Perkins of Family Research Council, which has become quite active recently in social issues impacting the family. There is also a follow-up on the story last week of the pastor who is in prison in Canada for defying the government and Tucker Carlson picked up on it, and we offer a link to the video of his interview with the pastor’s wife.
Additionally, we also have three articles in our “Recommended Reading” section, and we also offer some music videos of the “Let Us Worship” tour of Sean Feucht (pronounced “Foyt”) in our “Around the Republic” section because he is so determined to bring revival in such dark times. The other videos are music videos that touch in one way or another on the message for today, or the messages in the videos. We hope you will enjoy them all.
These words and images are being freely offered and are being sent to you as part of the David Project’s “Messages of Light.” Please receive today’s messages as a gift from those who care. They are only words that are being offered, freely, but some contain a deep message of faith, or a deeper expression of heart that readers can hopefully receive into their lives. As it was written: “Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” Proverbs 29:18 – (KJV)
May we truly seek His face, but more – seek His Mind and His Heart, seek to know His Will, to repent when we do not, and turn from wickedness when we walk away, or walk without Him. May we truly return our love to Him, and express our love to one another as we are all brothers and sisters, all children of our Heavenly Father.
By Dennis Jamison
About a year ago, at the beginning of May, I offered a message with the same title as above and was writing from my heart about the situation of the nation as I viewed it then from the midst of a coronavirus crazed country.
In that time, I had referred to a message that Apostle Tim Taylor had written regarding the opportunity of the response of the Church to COVID-19. I referred to the main point that I felt Tim Taylor was making in his article: “Mature love casts out all fear.” He prayed at the time “for a remnant to rise up in love to lay hands upon the sick and to stretch forth their/our hands in love,” This was a serious challenge to the American churches that they could truly live up to the sincere commands of Jesus Christ. Yet, the divisiveness within the American Church establishment in 2020 only revealed more fully the disunity and the lack of coordination of the body of Christ to function properly.
This serious division and disunity with the American Church establishment was obvious and quite prevalent in the way ministers and churches related to, or reacted to President Donald J. Trump. This concern has been addressed in several different ways in quite a few CSN Sunday newsletter editions. But in that Message of Light, I wrote:
President Trump has a vision for a better United States of America, but it is highly
doubtful that his vision belongs only to him. The real reason he was elected is that his
vision resounded with millions of citizens all across the nation. They trusted him and
still need to trust him to help all of us get to that “better place.” And, it is understandable
that many Christians do not deeply or truly trust this political figure… Yet, he is doing more
than any recent presidents in the history of the United States to boldly lead us to that
“better place.” Yet, it is not a certainty that Americans will get to see that “better place.”
Now, in March of 2021, can the greater Christian community claim that they are in that better place? What happened? Well, whether people of faith are willing to accept it or deny it, the overly obvious disunity in this nation retards growth, development, and any serious advancement. Disunity within a nation that hindered advancement or greatness fills the history books. “Divide and conquer” has long been a conquering army’s battle plans, and one needs only conquer their own arrogance and pride to comprehend this. And while it is obvious to many that there is a serious problem, actually many problems in the “United” States of America, the many of faith who are aware, may not seriously be able to get to that better place.
Many, perhaps the majority of, those who call themselves Christians are awaiting Jesus to return and claim them and take them home to Heaven, awaiting the “Rapture.” And, it is the right time to be aware of the coming of the Lord. However, how would one expect the Lord to return? What did Jesus teach his disciples?
And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
For some time he refused. But finally, he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!
And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:3-8 (NIV)
Jesus uses this parable as a way of demonstrating persistence in one’s faith that justice will come from even an unrighteous judge who does not have a relationship with God. A key component of this message is the example of the widow who kept pleading with the judge. Yet, Jesus has connected justice with faith and this is a common theme through the Bible – not just in the New Testament texts. And yet, common people, ones who do believe they are people of faith, have called upon God to deliver them, or give them the justice they seek from their personal or societal adversaries for over two thousand plus years. Was their faith less than the faith expressed today? Was the faith of the Founding Fathers less than the faith of Americans today? Was the faith of the Pilgrim Fathers less than the faith of Americans today? I would contend that it was greater.
So, we of less faith may have this in common with an immature Peter. When one considers or compares the faith of a collected body of people in a state or a nation, the “level of faith” in America at present may not be as mature a faith as the Pilgrims had, or that the Founding Fathers had. So, where does that leave us today? This maturity of faith, or of love as Apostle Taylor refers to it, is a key to why we are where we are as a nation today and divided we will not stand much longer. So, what is the pathway to get to a more mature faith?
Again, one who seeks to mature his faith needs to return to the words of the Christ:
Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?” Matthew 16:24-26
I would submit to the readers that there are two common elements existing in the flight of the Hebrews from Egypt, the flight of the Pilgrims from England, and the plight of the Founders as they considered the circumstances in their respective times. And, I use the three historic examples because they serve as very dramatic examples that are relevant to compare with where that leaves the faithful today. The two common elements are self-denial and a willingness to make sacrifices for that better place we hope to enjoy. Just in expressing this, I would surmise that I have just lost a number of readers. Yet, many of those reading this know these words to be true. For one thing, they are not my words. They are the words of Jesus.
For him to say, “I am the Way—yes, and the Truth and the Life. No one can get to the Father except by means of me…” and also say that if anyone would follow him, they would need to deny themselves, and make serious sacrifices, that indicates a real steep path. And, clever “Christians” have learned to pick and choose in a “supermarket of the Savior’s sayings.” We pick favorites that resonate with us and tend to avoid looking deeper at those that challenge our very souls.
Yet, there is a third common element that needs to be applied to the situation that American Christians find themselves in at this time. And, Jesus already gave the deepest element of faith and that is love. He stated, “If you love me, obey me …Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? …And He does His work through me. Just believe it—that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. …When I come back to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. The one who obeys me is the one who loves me; and because he loves me, my Father will love him… The third common element is obedience based upon trusting in words from Jesus that are actually God’s words, and obedience motivated out of sincere love – not just out of sheer obedience.
Consider what I had written in my message last year:
Unfortunately, a mere intellectual embrace of the teachings of Jesus, does not always provide the people of faith with enough spiritual power to “rise up in love.” An intellectual grasp of the Ten Commandments did not always give the people of the Jewish faith the adequate spiritual strength to “rise up in love,” even though Jesus rightly proclaimed that the two greatest commandments were to “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself…”
…To me, the real reason that the American Christian churches are in decline is due to the failure of Christians to practice this. We are without excuse. In reality, it is what every single Christian is challenged to practice, but what most of the Christian world finds hard to do.
It still is my firm belief that if American Christians could exhibit a much greater or more mature level of faith it would be because they are truly wrestling with the three elements of faith that Jesus spoke of: denial of oneself, ability to make personal sacrifices, and obeying or practicing what he asked of us. Is that a lot? It can be viewed as too much. And, because it is viewed as too much by some, and that some includes leaders of faith, it reveals the anemic quality of faith existing in America at this time. If enough Christian leaders can convince their followers that it is too much, that is enough for them to disobey the words of the Christ.
Thus, humanity has come full circle as we face the same dilemma as those who have come before us. In the Garden of Eden, Heavenly Father asked His children to obey and to refrain from specific behavior. My dream of being in the Garden has opened my eyes to see that the problem of God’s children has always been a choice or obeying or disobeying. Obeying in the Garden, or following the Ten Commandments, or obeying Jesus’ “commands,” holds the key as to whether we get to a better place or not. We are not there yet, so common sense would tell intelligent people of faith that we have not been doing things right to be in the place we find ourselves right now.
People of faith can practice obedience for a certain period of time, even persistently like the persistent widow. However, obedience would come freely when one has fallen in love with someone – a loving parent, a wonderful spouse, or a dutiful and loving child. Obedience comes freely in such relationships based upon heart. And, this is why Jesus said that loving God was one of the two greatest “commandments.” When we are in love with Heavenly Father, it is much easier to obey. Love is strange that way.
In fact, if all people of faith considered the “commandments” Jesus honored more as imperatives – like plugging in an electric appliance before trying to use it – it might be more clear. One would be considered truly stupid if trying to operate an electric heater by not first plugging it in to the electric outlet – the source of electricity. Yet, we expect to love our fellow human beings by not “plugging in” via love to our Father in Heaven. We do that by consciously practicing our expression of love toward Heavenly Father and “allowing ourselves to enter into a very intimate, personal, and sincere relationship with our Father in Heaven.
Through study of the word, we come to know His Mind. Through genuine prayer, we can come to know His Heart. Through a combined understanding of His Mind and Heart, we come to understand His Will. If this is a conscious effort applied consistently over time, we can come to “fall” in love with God. In that “plugging in,” we will know His love for all of His children, and then love can be at the heart of our relationships and our service to others. All of us need to keep practicing and making a conscious effort to develop such a deep love relationship with God! Such a revolution of heart would truly “make America great again.”
