China Propaganda Discovered to be Rampant on U.S. Social Media

By Don Rosenberg 4/23/2020

Did your friends text you in the last few weeks with dire warnings about a pending “national lockdown” to be carried out by Government Troops? Did you see posts or tweets from friends who claim “My sister has a friend in the National Guard and he’s telling her to get ready for a nationwide shutdown?”

If you were skeptical about these claims, a recent article by Mark Moore of the New York Post exposes what we already suspected, the Chinese government has been extremely active in trying to spread disinformation to the United States and the rest of the world. By using hacked twitter and facebook accounts, and by setting up fake ones, they are not only trying to avoid the embarrassment of their involvement with the release of the coronavirus, they are actively trying to foment fear, panic and unrest in other countries through a coordinated campaign.

What’s more, Russia and Iran are cooperating.

According to the article…

The disinformation is then picked up and magnified by each country, sending the false information reverberating across social media platforms, where the repeated claims are given credibility.

In mid-March, messages that the Trump administration was ready to lock down the entire country began to appear on Americans’ cellphones.

“They will announce this as soon as they have troops in place to help prevent looters and rioters,” warned one of the messages, citing a source in the Department of Homeland Security. “He said he got the call last night and was told to pack and be prepared for the call today with his dispatch orders.”

The head of the National Guard was asked about this so many times that he had to issue a nationwide press release explaining that the rumors were false.

Fox News ran an interview today with Bryan Dean Wright, a former CIA operative, who confirmed the propaganda story and called this “an act of war.”

Indeed it is. If a foreign country had sent multiple rockets into the United States to disperse an infectious disease and then waged a propaganda campaign in order to cause panic and riots and wreck our economy, this would be seen as germ warfare, which is an act of war. The fact that China closed Wuhan travel within China, but allowed thousands of international flights to continue unchecked, means they knew exactly what they were doing.

Profit also seems to be a motive as multiple stories have emerged that China was buying up millions of pieces of personal protective equipment in order to corner the market and make excessive profits. A 50 cent mask is reportedly selling for up to $8, while much of what they are selling is found to be defective.

Even worse, this despicable behavior by a foreign government is amplified by Americans inadvertently doing their bidding by spreading the word through their social media. The hatred toward everything Trump that has been stoked by previous propaganda, the biased news media, and the Democrat party, has conditioned people to repeat and retweet every shred of news damaging to Trump, regardless of whether it’s true, or even makes even a tiny bit of logical sense.

If you’re a blind “retweeter” please realize that you’re being used by enemy foreign governments in order to destroy your own country.

Don’t believe everything you see on social media or the internet! Snopes.com is an excellent resource for finding the truth about extreme stories you might find. If they haven’t responded to a breaking news story, take just a few minutes to check the source, or best of all, use your common sense. Media Bias Fact Check is a good source.

Don’t spread lies and worry your friends needlessly.

The only things more contagious than the coronavirus are fear and rumors.

Spread the word. Share this post!
