Manager Adam Schiff’s Words Ring Hollow, and His Party’s Actions Will Incur Judgment
By Dennis Jamison January 27, 2020
For Trump in 2020, true Americans can’t stop fueling the bulldozer in the middle of demolishing the swamp
Last week, on day five of the Senate impeachment debacle, Congressman Adam Schiff gave his concluding remarks to the senators and all present, as well as to millions of viewers all over. In his offensive remarks, he happened to quote Abraham Lincoln’s conclusion of his State of the Union address in 1862. Schiff’s’ preferred portion was this:
Fellow-citizens, we cannot escape history. We of this Congress and this administration, will be remembered in spite of ourselves. No personal significance, or insignificance, can spare one or another of us. The fiery trial through which we pass, will light us down, in honor or dishonor, to the latest generation.
Schiff went on to laud Lincoln as the most interesting president in history, and to provide a history lesson on Lincoln. But Abraham Lincoln would most likely be turning over in his grave even many days after such a speech. Former President Obama must have helped Schiff with his closing because Obama used the same speech as well, and the words rang hollow then, as they do now.
Obama, in his last State of the Union speech in 2016, took issue with Donald Trump’s anti-Muslim terrorist rhetoric when he said:
There have been those who told us to fear the future; who claimed we could slam the brakes on change, promising to restore past glory if we just got some group or idea that was threatening America under control. And each time, we overcame those fears. We did not, in the words of Lincoln, adhere to the “dogmas of the quiet past.”
Sadly, Obama just used Lincoln’s words to associate himself with Lincoln. But, Lincoln using “dogmas of the quiet past” was a way of explaining the “dogmas” utilized to sweep slavery “under the rug.” Obama’s Party, and the Party of Schiff was responsible for slavery and the illusion that slavery was normal. The “Democratic” Party was great with illusions of propaganda then as it is now. But, intelligent and fair-minded citizens can sense false assertions and good Christians know bearing false witness against anyone is absolutely wrong.
Like Obama, Schiff used the same speech, just a different segment. Like Obama, Schiff just used Lincoln’s words to associate himself with Lincoln. Like Obama, Schiff’s words rang hollow. They were hollow for several reasons, which reflects the bankrupt efforts of the impeachment charade Democrats have chosen as their strategy for success in the 2020 elections.
Actually, Schiff’s words can be quite educational, if one can stand to listen to “Newspeak,” which seems to have become the official language of the Democrat – Socialist Party of Schiff, Schumer and company. George Orwell may also be turning in his grave as his prophetic vision in his novel. 1984, has come to fruition.
One of the first things to be deciphered in Schiff’s closing argument, despite the fact that he got Lincoln’s character right, he got his purposes contorted. What Schiff left out of his speech as he truncated Lincoln’s words is revealing:
…latest generation. We say we are for the Union. The world will not forget that we say this. We know how to save the Union. The world knows we do know how to save it. We—even we here—hold the power, and bear the responsibility. In giving freedom to the slave, we assure freedom to the free—honorable alike in what we give, and what we preserve. We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth. Other means may succeed; this could not fail. The way is plain, peaceful, generous, just—a way which, if followed, the world will forever applaud, and God must forever bless.
Lincoln had previously set forth the challenging words of the Emancipation Proclamation in September of 1862, after he had “made the promise… to my Maker.” The Proclamation had little real effect upon the Confederacy. President Jefferson Davis and the aristocratic slave owners did not acknowledge Mr. Lincoln’s initial pronouncement that in September of 1862 challenged the Confederacy to free their slaves as a foundation to re-join the Union. But, the Confederate States in 1862 had no intention of re-joining the Union. The Confederacy was determined to destroy the Union as it had been established under the “Old Constitution” as the Southern Democrats viewed the U.S. Constitution. This was an act of treason at the time, something for which the “Democratic” Party has escaped the judgment of history.
This period in American history records a Civil War initiated by Southern Democrats who had been able to conspire to form an alternative government in order to preserve the right to own human beings. Schiff’s Party never took responsibility for the decades of slavery. Instead the current crop of Democrat contenders running for their Party’s nomination, publicly expressed the desire to sue the U.S. government for reparations for slavery. That’s clear and obvious ignorance of real history (not history via “Newspeak”). In reality an African-America minister from the state of Washington already tried to sue the “Democratic” Party for reparations not long ago and seemed to be ignored by President Obama and his Party.
Another period in American history records the period in which civil rights were suppressed by Southern Democrats from the time of the ending of Reconstruction until nearly 100 years later. It was not until the 1950s that the severe cultural, political, and racial oppression of the legalized racism in the Deep South was challenged by black ministers, especially Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. Americans just celebrated Dr. King’s birthday last week, and one of the most important things he was fighting for was the right to vote in legitimate elections in the south. That vote had been consistently denied black American citizens in the old states of the Democrat-controlled old Confederacy.
One of the points of a recent article quoted Dr. King’s plea for voting rights:
Give us the ballot, and we will no longer have to worry the federal government about our basic rights.
Give us the ballot, and we will no longer plead to the federal government for passage of an anti-lynching law; we will by the power of our vote write the law on the statute books of the South and bring an end to the dastardly acts of the hooded perpetrators of violence.
Give us the ballot, and we will transform the salient misdeeds of bloodthirsty mobs into the calculated good deeds of orderly citizens.
Give us the ballot, and we will fill our legislative halls with men of goodwill and send to the sacred halls of Congress men who will not sign a ‘Southern Manifesto’ because of their devotion to the manifesto of justice.
Today in 2020, the manifesto of justice that King referred to has eluded the leadership of the Democrat – Socialist Party. They have gravitated toward the mandates of a Communist Manifesto.
The Party may use familiar words like equality or justice, but that is Newspeak—hollow words that mean only something to those who still believe in the vision and values within the Declaration of Independence. Politicians like Pelosi, Nadler, Schiff and Schumer are showing their true colors in the impeachment debacle. They will certainly be judged by history for their insurrection against a sitting president, and no matter how many “shiny” words these people throw around, their words ring hollow. Their actions and not their words should tell the American people all they need to know as to how to judge them in an election year.
Today in 2020, the leadership of the Democrat – Socialist Party is determined to destroy the Union as it had been established under the “Old Constitution” as they view it. Their current insurrection is an act of treason. The corrupt manner in which the “Democratic” Party is accustomed to rigging or controlling election outcomes is in their DNA. The suggestion that Trump was tampering with the election in 2016, or of this year’s election with foreign interference, is a blatant example of Saul Alinsky tactics on steroids. This is outrageous! Good and honest and law-abiding citizens need to look beyond the Newspeak propaganda of politicos and the mainstream media talking heads.
Accusation of the opposition for the exact crimes the Democrats are committing must be standard operating procedure by now. One way to decipher the Newspeak propaganda is to listen to the accusations the Democrat leadership level against opponents; then, one realizes what they have been involved in. The DNC controlled the outcome of the Hillary vs. Bernie primary. Then they blamed Trump for Russian collusion, when they were colluding to derail the outcome of the 2016 general election. Now, citizens are discovering about the Joe Biden-Hunter Biden, and the “Biden 5” corruption in the Ukraine; yet, the accusation is on Trump for wanting to assess the level of corruption of the Bidens in the Ukraine. This can go on and on. It needs to stop.
Despite the fact that Americans may be learning more about the articles of the Constitution, it comes at great expense—not just fiscal reality, but emotional erosion of our faith in the proper adherence to the Law of the Land. The level of corruption is astounding and can destroy the underlying confidence in our Constitutional Republic. American citizens in 2020 can clearly understand what President Lincoln was talking about in 1862. Lincoln’s words—which Schiff did not thankfully quote—but words that help provide the bigger picture:
Will not the good people respond to a united, and earnest appeal from us? Can we, can they, by any other means, so certainly, or so speedily, assure these vital objects? We can succeed only by concert. It is not “can any of us imagine better?” but, “can we all do better?” The dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise—with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country.
Lincoln understood that the Union as it had been created was under attack by one political party that rejected the truths of the Declaration of independence—that “all men were created equal.” Lincoln then expressed the danger quite clearly: “We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.”
Today, one political party rejects the premises of that same founding document. Americans are at a crossroads in 2020, just as they were in 1862. In 1864, Lincoln was up for re-election. His appeal to the people: “Don’t change horses in the middle of the stream.” For Trump in 2020, true Americans can’t stop fueling the bulldozer in the middle of demolishing the swamp.
