As you may know, historically in mid-term elections voter turnout is much lower than in the preceding presidential election and the political party that won in the presidential election is often the party that loses the most congressional seats.
Christians, conservatives, and Constitutional patriots in 2018 are dedicated to reversing these trends.
In order to change history, it is “We the People” who are required to act to make a difference. With less than three weeks remaining before Election Day, the Citizen Sentinels are offering you an opportunity to make a positive difference in 2018. We are calling upon all citizens who have not voted in past elections, for whatever reason, to honestly share their frustrations via video as to why they have not voted in the past.
There are millions of Christians, as well as citizens of other faiths, who have chosen not to exercise their right to vote. There may be many legitimate reasons: apathy, anger, disgust, fear, or even a sense of helplessness, may block their paths to the voting booth.
But, consider the alternative: in the future there may not be the choice of voting, or choices in voting, if enough Americans do not vote in the present.
The Citizen Sentinels want to hear from American Christians who have awakened to the need to get involved and vote – ministers, pastors, and everyday Americans.
Christians can share their stories about how they decided to stop sitting on the sidelines and overcame their concerns about voting.
To avoid any possible IRS conflicts, we don’t want videos to support or endorse any specific candidates or political parties. We trust in the decision-making skills of our fellow Christians on the best ways to vote.
We have a page where people can send their videos of their determination to take responsibility to vote in 2020. We will use the hashtag #WePrayWeVOtE as the way to share these messages on social media.
We are putting out the call to the faithful to record a simple one to three-minute video on your smart phone that explains all or some of the points outlined below (if possible do a video as a couple or family). Not tech-savvy? Just find a 12-year-old to help you!
Please try to include…
1. Who you are and where you are from (generally).
2. Why your faith is important to you.
3. Your role in your community (pastor, priest, minister, congregant).
4. Why you haven’t voted in the past (Scriptural reasons? Not wanting to support candidates who aren’t Christians or who have moral flaws? Dissatisfaction with the political process? Feeling that your vote doesn’t matter?)
5. Why you are planning to vote now (What has changed? Scriptural reasons? Dissatisfaction with the outcome of previous elections? Concern about Supreme Court Justices and how they will impact religious rights?)
This doesn’t have to be perfect. We want Christians to hear from other Christians on why they need to vote.
We will share the best ones on our website and throughout social media. If you can load your video on Facebook or YouTube you can give us the link right in the form below. Or, if you don’t have it uploaded, we’ll tell you where you can send it via email or Drop Box. For questions on how to send your cell phone video to us as easily as sending an email, there’s a great video on this page that explains everything.
There are genuine reasons why people of faith have not voted in the past. However, America is not in the past; America is at a crossroads in the present. And what citizens do or don’t do in the next few weeks will definitely determine America’s future. Failure to act could mean the loss of freedom itself.
People of faith need to realize how important voting is in 2020. Help us overcome whatever the block may be. Let us join together to help each other! Let 2020 be the year you can offer a positive difference in election history!
